IGNITE students have opportunities to explore careers in six pathways, with a variety of specialized programs leading to industry certifications and paid apprenticeships.

ARTS & INFORMATION SOLUTIONS

Encompasses design, production and publication of multimedia content, visual & performing arts, as well as design, development, support and management of information technology systems.

The Cyber Security Certificate, Diploma, and Associate of Applied Science programs are designed to place students into the workforce at different entry levels upon completion of each earned credential.

Students completing the cybersecurity education programs may find jobs in fields such as Data Security Administrator, Information Security Officer, Information Security Specialist, Information Systems Security Analyst, Information Systems Security Officer, Information Technology Security Analyst (IT Security Analyst), Information Technology Specialist, Network Security Analyst, Security Analyst, Systems Analyst.

The Network Administration Certificate program of study prepares students for employment at the entry level of network administration in an IT department. Students will demonstrate knowledge of design, installation, and maintenance of networks. Upon the successful completion of the program, students will have completed the curriculum to enable them to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam. Graduates of this program who wish to earn an advanced degree and prepare for higher level jobs can continue on to complete the Network and System Administration program of study.

The academy courses are part of a set of courses that lead to a Diploma in Computer Languages. This program is specifically tailored to prepare for Knight Moves immersive training program.

E-Sports is math and data analysis in action. Colleges and universities recognize that students who are good at gaming are well-suited for careers in information & communication technology as well as software and systems development (web designers).  IGNITE's team is a member of the Iowa High School E-Sports Association (IHSEA) and they compete against schools across the state.

The team is free to join, and new team members are welcome to join any time.

BUSINESS, FINANCE, MARKETING & MANAGEMENT

Programs prepare students for careers in accounting, business law, career development, communication, computation, economics, personal finance, entrepreneurship, information technology, international business, management, and marketing.

The Social Media Marketing program of study is designed for students, working in any industry, who wish to create social media content and further their organization's brand. The curriculum exposes students to social media marketing strategies. Students in this program of study can specialize their study to earn industry certificates with a variety of platform specialties.

  • Digital Imagery for Social Media (individual course): This course introduces the tools, techniques, and concepts behind the production of digital media through the practice of good design.
  • Media Writing (individual course): Media writing explores the different styles of writing for print media, broadcast media, the Web, advertising copy, and public relations materials. Students will learn how to gather information, write for specific audiences, and check for accuracy.

HEALTH SCIENCES

Prepares students for careers and higher education in more than 200 occupations in the healthcare field, in a variety of settings, including clinics, home health, hospitals, insurance industry, laboratories and research, and nursing homes.

The Nurse Aide Certificate program of study is designed to place students into the workforce upon completion of this certificate. The certificate program prepares students for entry-level jobs in healthcare as nurse aids in hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities. The national job market for nurse aids is large and growing steadily, with more opportunities for nurse aides in nursing care facilities than in hospitals.

HUMAN SERVICES

Stimulates students to manage the challenges of living and working in a diverse global society while preparing for family life, work life and careers early childhood education, child growth and development and human services.

Introduces a student to the foundational skills needed in working with young children, ages birth to 5 years. 

APPLIED SCIENCES, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING

Programs prepare students for careers and higher education within manufacturing technology, engineering and design, construction technology, transportation technology and communication.

Soar to new heights with a career in the aviation industry.  Our FAA approved Aviation Pilot Training coursework will put you on the path for success with hands-on training and real world experiences.

The Construction Technology: Carpentry Certificate program of study prepares students for entry level jobs in the residential construction industry. This certificate program will expose students to carpentry theory, techniques, and building materials. Students receive safety training and complete the 30-hour OSHA and EPA training. Graduates of this program are awarded a certificate.

Carpenters construct and repair building frameworks and structures—such as stairways, door frames, partitions, rafters, and bridge supports—made from wood and other materials. They also may install kitchen cabinets, siding, and drywall. There is a high demand for carpenters nationwide. 

  • Construction Trades (Individual course): Juniors and seniors will build a new home from the ground up. You will work individually and with local trade contractors in every stage of the construction process. You will learn job site safety, estimating, and scheduling.

The Drafting and CAD Certificate program of study teaches basic drafting and design fundamentals utilizing multiple industry computer-aided design (CAD) programs. Students work in entry level drafting or design positions for civil engineering firms, architect firms, and manufacturing companies. Basic surveying and construction skills are also taught. Graduates of this program are awarded a certificate.

The HVAC/R Maintenance Certificate program of study provides the basic skills necessary to gain meaningful employment as an entry-level Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) apprentice or assistant. The certificate program is designed to train students to assist in becoming HVAC technicians. Students will learn to troubleshoot and service HVAC/R systems. The certificate does not qualify graduates for the State of Iowa's specialty license. Graduates of this program are awarded a certificate.

An HVAC technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in both residential homes and commercial buildings. HVAC is an abbreviation for “heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Someone who works in this occupation might specialize in the installation, or in maintenance and repair. Some technicians concentrate on only one type of system, either heating, air conditioning, or refrigeration, while others offer a broader range of services.

 

The Welding Certificate program prepares students to enter into the industry as beginning production, maintenance, or job shop welders. Students are trained in the latest techniques in fabrication of materials by welding processes. The Welding Certificate is designed to teach fundamental techniques and principles. The pathway also provides for an overview of related topics, such as metallurgy and fabrication, layout, estimating and repair.

AGRICULTURE, FOOD & NATURAL RESOURCES

Prepares students for successful careers and a lifetime of informed choices in the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources systems.

The Agribusiness Technology: Agronomy Operations Certificate program of study provides students with the opportunity to develop skills, abilities, and an understanding of the agronomic aspects of production agriculture. Careers in production agriculture and agronomy operations can be pursued. Students are provided with classroom instruction, lab, and field experience. Graduates of this program are awarded a certificate .

  • Mechanized Agriculture: Learn safety, inspections, maintenance, and operations of various pieces of ag related equipment, including tractors, planters, spreaders.

Learn the basics of drone operation and maintenance for use in agriculture or other industries.
