CORE CREDITS

Looking for a learning experience that truly matters to you? At IGNITE Pathways, students have the opportunity to earn core academic credits through hands-on, career-connected learning that aligns with their interests and future goals.

Whether you're passionate about healthcare, agriculture, aviation, business, or another career field, our unique model makes learning relevant, engaging, and personalized—because your education should reflect who you are and where you're going.

Core Credits Opportunities Built Around YOU

At IGNITE Pathways, we believe students learn best when they are engaged in meaningful work that connects to the real world. That’s why we offer core academic credits—like English, math, science, and social studies—through career and technical education (CTE) pathways. These courses are delivered using a Competency-Based Education (CBE) approach, which means students move forward as soon as they show they've mastered the material. This allows each student to learn at their own pace and spend more time applying their learning in authentic, real-world settings.

This innovative model is perfect for students who want to take ownership of their education and earn high school credits through projects and pathways that matter. With IGNITE's core credit opportunities, learning isn’t just about checking boxes—it’s about discovering your path, mastering skills, and preparing for whatever comes next.

Aligning with Iowa’s Competency-Based Education principles, our approach ensures:

  • Students advance upon demonstrated proficiency (Principle 1), progressing as soon as they’ve shown they’re ready.

  • Learning transfers across content areas and beyond the classroom (Principle 2), making education applicable and purposeful.

  • Assessments are used as meaningful, positive learning experiences (Principle 3) that help guide progress, not just measure it.

  • Personalized support is available whenever it's needed (Principle 4), with core teachers providing direct instruction, small-group teaching, and one-on-one guidance.

  • All learning counts—no matter when, where, or how it happens (Principle 5), validating a student’s efforts both inside and outside the classroom.
