The Intro to Early Childhood Education class introduces students to the fundamental concepts of child development, focusing on the crucial stages from infancy through transitional kindergarten. Students will gain hands-on experience working with children in various age groups, learning how to create engaging, age-appropriate activities and environments that support cognitive, social, and emotional growth. The course emphasizes the importance of nurturing relationships and fostering a love of learning in young children, preparing students for future careers in early childhood education or related fields.
Introduction to Early Childhood Education gives students a historical and philosophical foundation of the field of early childhood education. The course includes an overview of assessment and evidencebased practices and addresses the influences of family centered practice, inclusion, culture and language. Students will explore early childhood careers.
Explain the roles of an early childhood professional and various careers.
Analyze current issues and trends relevant to early childhood professionals.
Describe philosophers and theorists and how they influence early childhood today.
Explain best practice and the application in various settings.
