Interested in learning how stories, experiences, and conversations can bring people together and strengthen communities? Digital Storytelling & Community Engagement helps students develop the communication and interpersonal skills needed to share meaningful stories and connect with others. In this hands-on Human Services course, students explore how interviews, podcasts, livestreams, and digital storytelling can highlight personal experiences, careers, and community voices. Students will learn how communication can inform, inspire, and support individuals and communities.
Streaming & Broadcast Productions is a hands-on media course that teaches students the fundamentals of digital broadcasting, live streaming, and audio production. Students will explore podcasting, esports broadcasting, sound engineering, and digital storytelling while developing strong communication and presentation skills. The course focuses on both the technical aspects of production and the creative process behind engaging media content. Through collaborative projects and real-world broadcasting experiences, students will plan, record, edit, and stream content while learning how professional media productions are created and managed.
Foundations of Streaming & Broadcasting
Understanding the roles, equipment, and workflow involved in live streaming and broadcast production.
Communication & On-Air Presentation
Developing voice control, interviewing techniques, storytelling, and professional speaking skills.
Podcast Production
Planning, recording, editing, and publishing podcasts while learning audience engagement strategies.
Sound Technology & Audio Engineering
Learning microphone setup, sound mixing, audio editing, and managing broadcast equipment.
Esports Broadcasting & Live Streaming
Producing live esports broadcasts including commentary, game analysis, stream setup, and event coverage.
Video Production & Content Creation
Creating highlight videos, promotional content, and digital media for streaming platforms.
Production Planning & Team Collaboration
Writing scripts, organizing broadcast schedules, and working as a production team.
Media Ethics & Responsible Broadcasting
Understanding copyright, responsible media communication, and ethical broadcasting practices.
Broadcast Portfolio Development
Compiling projects and media productions into a portfolio that demonstrates technical and communication skills.
