Spark City is an innovative, hands-on learning experience for 7th–8th graders at IGNITE Pathways. Students step into a miniature, student-run town where they explore careers, take on real responsibilities, earn wages, and make choices that mirror real-world life — all in a safe, supportive environment. Spark City empowers students to discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop essential skills for future success.
Students choose a job in the Spark City workforce and step into a role that teaches teamwork, responsibility, and leadership. Each month, students attend a Career Fair, choose a new job, and begin a new adventure.
Spark City is designed to:
Connect learning with real-world purpose
Build career awareness and curiosity
Strengthen communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking
Teach financial literacy through wages, banking, purchasing, and budgeting
Give students ownership over their learning and community
Provide hands-on experiences that support college and career readiness
Spark City encourages students to try new things, make choices, collaborate with peers, and practice responsibilities in a low-risk, high-engagement environment.
Spark City makes learning relevant, joyful, and memorable.
Students don’t just learn about careers — they live them, gaining a sense of community, responsibility, and pride.
